2018 Pancake Breakfast - It Takes a Village

Today’s Annual Pancake Breakfast, put on by the Mi Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Protection District Auxiliary was a great success thanks to the Community, the Auxiliary members and some spouses and our awesome firefighters.

Setting up the chafing dishes and adding the hot water before lighting the stereo. About 7:40 a.m. Mike Welch, Joe Peters and Russ Klipple.

Two of the first diners, from Jamestown, Capt. Bandley’s aunt Shirley and uncle (I didn’t get his name). Capt. Chris Bandley and two interns are assigned to the County Fire and will return to the station late next week.

District 3 County Supervisor Candidate Aniah Kirk and his family, including his dad.

Kirk Wallace, “the boss”, and Russ Klipple. Kirk was the team leader on the renovation of the former Sugar Pine Hardware Store to the current fire station. It was good to see him!

Fred Coleman, THE MAN who mans the griddle!

Fred and his assistant, Jim McDonald, auxiliary and Fire Board member. Jim kept the fresh hot pancakes moving from the griddle to the waiting chafing/serving pans.

Joe Peters kept the fresh hot sausages at the ‘ready’ for the serving line.

Gloria and Carol Afshar (she will be joining the Fire Board on Tuesday, July 10th) kept the fresh eggs a-cookin’. Both Gloria and Carol are members of the fire Auxiliary as are all the women seen in the photos wearing the red aprons.

Diners in line for their tickets and their plates. Around 8:45 a.m.

Future fire fighters.

These gals were celebrating the 50th birthday of the gal in red, on the right, by enjoying a weekend getaway in Mi Wuk. What fun!!! How great that they joined us for pancake breakfast.

District 3 Supervisor candidate Laurie Sylvester. It was great to have both candidates in attendance.

Captain Jim Klyn showing off engine 771.

Auxiliary member Lean Straub, diving in to her first Auxiliary function while her hubby is out on the strike team at the County Fire. She deserved this little quiet time out for some breakfast. She was there from 6.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., pitching in wherever needed.

Happy crowd of diners.

Captain Klyn, Shawn (intern) and retired and bearded Chief Larry Crabtree.

Thank you one-and-all who came out to support our Mi Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Protection District Auxiliary’s fundraiser.  We’ll be back again next year, as close as possible to the 4th of July weekend.
