Fire Aux. Annual Pancake Breakfast: pancake flipping
Jordan flipped the pancakes while Mike kept him supplied with batter.

From the time the bay doors opened at 8:00 a.m. until around 10:30 a.m. our pancake flipper, Fire Fighter Volunteer Extraordinaire Jordan, kept the pancakes coming to supply the never ending line of diners.  When the line lightened a bit he was also able to throw in some banana and blueberry pancakes.

Fire Aux. Annual Pancake Breakfast: pancake batter mixing
Alvena and Maury Leal are pancake batter mixers extraordinare. They have the secret recipe down pat!
Fire Aux. Annual Pancake Breakfast: the serving line
Fire Fighter Intern Steven served pancakes to diners for awhile.
Fire Aux. Annual Pancake Breakfast: cooking the eggs
Dale and Connie were our fabulous scrambled egg cooks.

Auxiliary members came out to ‘work’ the event.  THANK YOU!

Fire Fighters, from Capt. Klyn, to our Interns and Volunteers busted their tails helping the Auxiliary get set up in time and then were there to help with the tear down after the event.  Cheers to Brandon, lowest on the totem pole, for helping in the kitchen with the never ending dishes.

There was speculation yesterday on what made this year’s Pancake Breakfast such a success.  Last year’s breakfast statistics were nearly doubled!!!  Again, thank you everyone for coming out and sharing the food and the fun and the camaraderie.  Factors in our ‘favor’:

  • fabulous weather
  • Saturday was actually THE FOURTH
  • no pancake breakfast in Twain Harte this year
  • Alicia’s was closed for the 4th
  • good advertising

Proceeds from the event go towards the needs of the Mi Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Protection District.  That could mean communication devices, safety gear, washer/drier, hoses, special vehicle maintenance.  If the department needs ‘something’, they ask the auxiliary and upon approval and available funds, the department’s needs are fulfilled.

By the way, the Auxiliary is always looking for new members.  We meet, at the fire station,  on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at noon for lunch (prepared by members), followed by the meeting at 12.30 p.m.  You don’t have to be present to be a supporting member but it’s great when we get to meet you in person.  The Auxiliary’s goal or mission is to support the department in any way possible.  We do have a reputation among fire departments in the area as having an awesomely, amazingly supportive Auxiliary.  Come and be a part.  To paraphrase Smokey Bear, we can’t do it without YOU!

We look forward to seeing you at the Pancake Breakfast next year on Saturday, July 2nd.  The 4th is on Monday.
