Say Hello to Our New Fire Chief, Steve McClintock

Although Steve McClintock has been with us for just over a month now, there hasn’t been  a chance to introduce him to the community.  He’s been busy ‘fighting fires’.  There will be a public ‘meet and greet’ in the fall when “fire season” calms down.

The Fire Board had just passed, unanimously, a resolution that allows the Department to purchase a 2010 Fire Truck, aka Water Tender. More about the Tender in another post.

Chief McClintock is married to his beautiful wife Marla and they have five wonderful children.  Son Randy is 30 and lives in Las Vegas and is a professional bar tender and realtor.  Twin daughters Cianna and Cierra live in Oregon.  Cianna works for an accounting firm and Cierra is a supervisor of a flooring company.  12 year old Rebecca and 9 year old Addison currently live in Grants Pass, Oregon with their mom and grandmother, Connie Coburn.  They’ll be in Mi Wuk as soon as Steve settles down, stays in town for awhile and finds a home (4 bedrooms please) near the fire district appropriate for the family.

Steve was raised in Lee Vining, California , (just over Tioga Pass), along with his sister, Anita.  They grew up hunting, fishing, skiing and being in the outdoors.  Their father worked for the power  company so they moved around quite often.  They settled in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Steve started his career as a volunteer Firefighter in 1978.  He then pursued his career with Clark County Fire Department in Las Vegas.  He started out as an entry level Fire Fighter and promoted his way though the ranks, retiring as the Rural Coordinator, overseeing 350 volunteers which covered 8,000 square miles in the rural area of Clark County.

There’s much much more to know about Chief McClintock. He’s bringing lots of energy and fresh ideas to our department with his open mannerisms and a long time relationship with Chief  Mike Johnson of Ebbitt’s Pass.  He’s definitely a ‘get ‘er done’ kind of guy!

From Steve’s mouth:

“I’m excited being chosen as your Fire Chief.  I strive to keep the home owners and public in this great community safe and giving them the best public service.  I have a great staff who put their hearts and soul into this community both on and off duty.  I look forward to meeting all the great people and supporters of the Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine Fire District.  My door is always open and the coffee is always on.”
