Station 77 Recycle Program

As of 4/15/2019 the MWSPFPD Recycle Program has ended all functions at the fire station.  The Department will no longer be accepting recycle donation drop-offs at MWSPFPD Station 77.

The recycle program is still ongoing for residents and all others.  Anyone can still make recycle donations by taking their recycling to the Waste Management Recycle Center at 14959 Camage Ave, Sonora, CA 95370.

All recycling donations brought to the recycle center must be separated into separate types of accepted recycling materials:

    • Aluminum
    • Plastic
    • Glass (with all lids removed)

Donors need to tell the staff at the recycling center that the recycling is for the Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Protection District account – before they start taking your donations.

Why was the program cancelled at the station?  “Donors” were dropping off their garbage as well as their recycling.  Items weren’t rinsed out/cleaned up.  Bottom line:  it was a lot of extra work for the firefighters that was not anticipated.  Their job isn’t to sift through garage and messy icky bags of “recycle-able” items.

But…….maybe get together with neighbors, consolidate your appropriate recyclables and take a whole bunch down to the recycle center at one time.  I know we have separate bins or bags on our deck for our donations.  When those bags or bins overflow, it’s time to take a trip down to Camage.   Let’s recycle!!!
