The Mi Wuk Team of VIPs (Volunteers in Prevention) will be joining up with CalFire Team mates this year for doing the local property inspections. This revived and revitalized program will be a win-win for our neighborhoods.
The program is seeking new volunteers for this season and one of them
could be YOU!
We (yes I’m already committed) will be going out four days per week, from roughly 9:30 – 3 p.m. Those specifics are still to be worked out. We’ll be teamed up with a CalFire inspector who will be carrying a tablet that houses an awesome APP that will document each residence including little facts about the residence: driveway slope, roof and siding types, terrain etc. These facts will be transferred onto a map that all firefighting teams will be able to access when they come into our community. Instant familiarity with what they will encounter around every turn. Win-win.
You, as a VIP, do not have to go out every day–you go out with the group when you can. And as teams join up with CalFire we should be able to complete the entire community within four weeks.
If you are interested in joining this program, please come out to the Mi Wuk Sugar Fire Fire Station on Hwy 108 in Sugar Pine on Wednesday, June 6th, 9 a.m. CalFire representatives will be there, as well a local volunteers so we can welcome YOU as well as work out the plan for the coming weeks.
This is such an important program for both community awareness of what each homeowner needs to do to be fire safe (as safe a possible) and for making our oasis here on the mountain as safe as it can be should a fire be near by or embers be floating in the air. If we don’t have a place for embers to smolder they can’t become spot fires.
If you have questions, please call me, 586-1962, and I’ll get the answer and get back to you.
Remember, every volunteer is an important asset to our community’s safety. Many people live here, few volunteer. Become one of the awesome volunteers in prevention! I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on June 6th!
