Yesterday (Saturday, 5 January 2018) Ron Doss, Fire Board Vice President and former Fire Fighter in Belmont CA, left with Engineer Chris Brandley and Intern Donnie Swanson to pick up our new donated engine from Capt. Mark Way of the Belmont Fire Department.
On their way to Belmont, they stopped at the Harley Davidson store (Jamestown) and Chris & Donnie provided medical care for a heart attack victim.
They eventually arrived at Belmont Fire Station 15 in heavy rain. Capt. Way spent 2 hours going over everything our guys needed to know about the engine. Returning home they did 55 mph over the Altamont Pass, fueled up in Oakdale and had some pizza for dinner. Leaving Oakdale on Highway 120, about 5:30 p.m., they came upon a head-on two vehicle collision, eastbound. Heavy rain. Ford 150 truck into Ford Escort. Driver of the Escort was trapped and had significant injuries. Chris called the accident in for additional resources. Stanislaus County and Cal Fire and Mi Wuk Sugar Pine Fire extricated the driver from the car, and Ron, Chris and Donnie continued on their way back to the Mi Wuk Sugar Pine Station. Of course they then had to chain up in Twain Harte.
This was quite an introduction for our new Engine.
If all goes well the new engine will be on display at Tuesday night’s Fire Board Meeting. 7 p.m., Hwy 108 Station 77. (Dessert will be served at our mid-meeting break.)
(As a Fire Board Member I feel like a proud new mama!)
(Yes, we have snow!)
