Wildfire Near Long Barn

From MyMotherlode.com:

Update at 12:02pm: CAL Fire reports that the forward spread has been stopped on the small vegetation fire that ignited in the area of North Fork Road and Merrill Springs Road near Long Barn. It is not immediately clear what ignited the fire.

Original story posted at 11:50am: Long Barn, CA — Firefighters are working to extinguish a roughly 50 x 50 ft. vegetation fire in the area of North Fork Road and Merrill Springs Road.

Air and ground resources were dispatched to the fire near the community of Long Barn and are aggressively working to extinguish the blaze.

From Mi Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Department both E771 and WT777 (our new water tender) were dispatched to the fire.

Comment from a neighbor who saw the emergency vehicles driving up Hwy 108 from their  dispatch locations:  cars were passing these emergency vehicles, ostensibly because they were going too slow.  WHEN YOU SEE EMERGENCY VEHICLES WITH FLASHING LIGHTS AND SIRENS BLARING YOU MUST PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO ALLOW THEM TO PROCEED UNIMPEDED. PERIOD.  DO NOT PASS.

My wish is that a CHP officer could witness these violations and pull each offending vehicle over and ‘sock it to ’em’   Shame.  It’s the law folks.
